Stone Ridge Neighborhood Events
We find ways to stay connected to each other and our community in a few ways. Whatever it may be, it's always A LOT of fun!
Annual Block Party - Stay tuned for the 2020 date!
This event is always a hit for both kids and adults. The Block Party Committee ensures the kids are entertained while the adults share in some food, drink, and amazing conversation! In past years, we've had a balloon twister, Kona Ice, and lots of super fun games!
Detailed information will be sent to neighbors by email and via Facebook. Be sure you are either on the Resident Directory (preferrably!) or Facebook as we do not make this information public on our website.
Neighbors are welcome to bring their favorite snacks, desserts, and drinks.
Annual Candlelight Tour (Luminaria)
December 14th, 2019 from 5pm-9pm (Rain date December 15th)
It's a tradition spanning more than a quarter of a century...
It started with the Scott family, who moved to Stone Ridge from New Mexico, where paper displays are the tradition. According to Anne Sauerbrey, on an afternoon in December that first year, the women of the neighborhood and their young children got together to fold their bags. They were told the bags were to be folded three times: in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. In Mexican tradition, the luminaria lights the way for the Christ child.
After the supplies are paid for by the Stone Ridge residents (thanks to our wonderful Luminaria Committee who organizes this adventure for us), all of the net proceeds are donated to the East Greenwich Holiday Food Basket Program, which is typically $1,000 or more each year.
We welcome the entire community to enjoy our neighborhood's holiday tradition so please spread the word to your family, friends, and co-workers!
Sometimes, we are able to plan a Fall mini-block party or other event, so stay tuned!
